Jordan, N.Y. - A 76-year-old Cayuga County man who was boating on Cross Lake died Sunday, deputies said.

Around 3:31 p.m., deputies were called to Cross Lake for a report of man who was possibly drowning, according to dispatches from the Onondaga County 911 Center.

Deputies and emergency responders attempted life-saving measures but the man died on scene, said Tom Newton, a spokesperson for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was indentified as Terence Doddy, of Martville, Newton said. The cause of death is unknown at this time, he said.

A man drove a jet ski onto Cross Lake after he heard someone yelling from a boat in the water, Newton said. As the man approached the boat, he found Doddy in the water, he said.

The man pulled him onto the boat and began to give him CPR, Newton said.

A deputy arrived soon after and drove a jet ski out to the boat, Newton said. The deputy also administered CPR, he said.

Onondaga County Sheriff’s Navigation Unit, Jordan Water Rescue and Northwest Water Rescue were called to the scene, according to dispatch reports.

Jordan Ambulance, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office and the Plainville Fire Department were also on scene.
